UK label MR BONGO presents new BRAZIL 45’s #39 & #40.
BRAZIL 45’s #41
A: ROSA MARIA – DEIXA NAO DEIXA
Deixa Nao Deixa’ has a distinct afro-latin feel to it thanks to the guitar, horn and percussion. Add in the catchy lead vocal, strong harmonies, funk/bossa drum grooves, shuffling percussion and the continuous build to the end, and you have one of the greatest Brazilian funk records ever pressed.
B: ROSA MARIA – AVENIDA ATLANTICA
‘Avenida Atlantica’ doesn’t mess around either. Funk and bossa drum grooves alternate underneath the layers of vocals, horns, piano and percussion found on the flip.
BRAZIL 45’s #42
A: CLAUDIA – JESUS CRISTO
Jesus Cristo’ is the title track from LP. Brazilian Gospel-funk-soul at it’s finest; uplifting piano, organ, bass, drums and claps, with Claudia’s lead vocal and backing harmonies from a full choir. Also originally released on an Odeon 7” in 1970, backed with the mighty ‘Com Mais De 30’ that we released on Brazil 45, 26.
B: CLAUDIA – OSSAIN
‘Ossain’ is a beautifully unique MPB/samba-rock work out, featuring one of the most distinctive vocals hooks in Brazilian music. This is the first time the song has been released on 7”.
