For the first two releases of Dan Shake‘s eponymous imprint, we were treated to the deft sampling and knack for edits that he’s built his name on since a debut for Moodymann’s Mohongy imprint in 2014. For his third release, however, he breaks the mould on two counts, with an original piece of music that comes from an external source.
XOA is a new London project by Nick Tyson, which fuses golden era afrobeat with contemporary electronica, forming warm, deep grooves, propped up by analogue sythns and live guitars and percussion. For this debut release, Tyson seeks assistance from Dele Sosimo, one of the most recognisable voices in afrobeat still alive and the former musical director for Fela Kuti. (Via Browswood)
