By now you probably know we’re all big Nas fans here. That’s one of, but not the only reason I’m posting this song. The other reason is this song is great. Long past the peak of his commercial success Nas continues to bring it lyrically. On his new, No I.D. produced single he raps about daughters. He has one himself, and that show in the quality of his writing. Here’s a gem from the text, just so you know what I’m talking about: “They say the coolest playaz and foulest heartbreakers in the world/God gets us back – He makes us have precious little girls”
The meteoric success of 2CELLOS started when former cello rivals Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser decided to join forces. In January 2011, they uploaded a unique cello version of “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson onto YouTube. Within just a few weeks, their video became a huge viral sensation, receiving over 5 million views. This led to a record deal with SONY MASTERWORKS and an invitation to join Elton John on his worldwide tour.
Luka and Stjepan’s success extends way beyond YouTube and their fanbase continues to grow around the world.
On January 31st they appeared as the special musical guests on Fox’s hit TV series GLEE where they performed “Smooth Criminal” in the Michael Jackson tribute episode. This was the first time that an instrumental duo had performed on the show in this coveted guest spot. The 2CELLOS’ arrangement of the song, which featured actors Grant Gustin and Naya Rivera, sold incredibly well debuting at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Digital Songs Chart and landing the 2CELLOS album in the Top 100.
Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser have played the cello since childhood. They completed their studies in 2011 – Luka graduated from the acclaimed Royal Academy of Music in London, and Stjepan at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Stjepan has also performed around the world in most European countries, South Africa, New Zealand, Asia and the USA, with debuts in London’s Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, South Bank Centre and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. He was the last pupil of Mstislav Rostropovich. In his short career, Stjepan has already been awarded first prize in twenty-one national and international competitions, and he has performed twice for Prince Charles at Buckingham and St James‘s Palace.
The duo is currently on a worldwide tour with Elton John and performing on solo dates as well. They are preparing to record their second album which will come out in Fall 2012.
