For over a decade Kurt Elling (1967) has been considered one of the world’s hottest jazz vocalists and technically accomplished artists by critics and audiences alike. Tackling artistically inventive, demanding and incisive projects, his music challenges and stretches the established jazz lines. Elling is recipient of some of the highest accolades, among others he was presented with a Grammy Award, while as many as ten of his projects have received Grammy nominations. What’s more, he has topped the best male jazz vocalists’ charts of the prestigious Downbeat magazine for thirteen years.
Pianist Laurence Hobgood (1957) has been Kurt Elling’s music-making partner since the beginning of his career. Also Elling’s arranger and music producer, Hobgood has worked with some of the most prominent jazz musicians, such as Larry Coryell, Lee Konitz, John Pattitucci, Jon Hendricks, Regina Carter, Stefon Harris, Richard Galliano, Terrence Blanchard, Joe Lovano, Benny Maupin, Paul Wertico, Bobby Watson and Gary Burton.
